Pharmacology

• Combination of Sodium Alginate and Potassium Bicarbonate
• Sodium Alginate reacts with stomach acid to form a gel
• Potassium Bicarbonate forms carbon dioxide bubbles
• Gel raft prevents acid reflux into the esophagus
• Physical mode of action
• Lasts up to 4 hours in the stomach
• Broken down in the digestive system

Dosage & Administration

• Tablet and Suspension forms available
• Different dosage for adults and children
• Recommended intake after meals and at bedtime
• Not recommended for children under 2 years
• No dose modifications for elderly or hepatic impairment
• Caution advised for patients with renal insufficiency

Interaction

• Consider 2-hour interval with other medicinal products
• Special caution with tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, iron salts, thyroid hormones, chloroquine, bisphosphonates, and estramustine
