Pharmacology
- Combination of Sodium Alginate and Potassium Bicarbonate
- Forms a gel in stomach
- Reacts with stomach acid to form bubbles of carbon dioxide
- Creates a raft on top of stomach contents
- Prevents acid from flowing back into the esophagus
- Lasts for up to 4 hours in the stomach
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dosage: 1-2 tablets 3-4 times daily
- Children (6-12 years) dosage: ½-1 tablet 3-4 times daily
- Adult suspension dosage: 5-10 ml (1-2 teaspoonfuls) 3-4 times daily
- Children (2-12 years) suspension dosage: 2.5-5ml (½-1 teaspoonful) 3-4 times daily
- Not recommended for children under 2 years of age
- No dose modifications for elderly and hepatic impairment
- Caution for renal insufficiency with highly restricted salt diet
Interaction
- Consider 2 hours interval with other medicinal products
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity

Precautions & Warnings
- Prescribed with caution in patients with renal impairment
- Prescribed with caution in patients with congestive cardiac failure
- Careful in treating patients with hypercalcemia
- Careful in treating patients with nephrocalcinosis
- Careful in treating patients with recurrent calcium-containing renal calculi
- Possibility of reduced efficacy in patients with very low levels of gastric acid
- Review clinical situation if symptoms do not improve after seven days
