Description

Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients known to be hypersensitive to Acyclovir or Valacyclovir

Pregnancy & Lactation

Precautions & Warnings
- Intended for intravenous infusion only
- Reconstituted solution should not be administered by mouth
- Must be given over a period of at least one hour to avoid renal tubular damage
- Should not be administered as a bolus injection
- Must be accompanied by adequate hydration
- Concomitant use of other nephrotoxic drugs, pre-existing renal disease, and dehydration increase the risk of further renal impairment

Overdose Effects
- Results in elevations of serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen, and subsequent renal failure

- Each 500 mg vial should be reconstituted with 10 ml of either Water for Injection or Sodium Chloride Intravenous Infusion (0.9% w/v)
