Description
- Floxabac is indicated for the treatment of infections due to Gram-positive organisms, including infections caused by penicillinase producing staphylococci. It is also used for the treatment of other infections such as osteomyelitis, enteritis, endocarditis, urinary tract infection, meningitis, and septicaemia caused by Floxabac-sensitive organisms.

Mode of Action
- Inhibits the formation of cell wall of bacteria
- Bactericidal antibiotic
- Kills bacterial cell wall
- Interferes with peptidoglycan synthesis
- Resists the action of bacterial penicillinase
Dosage
- Oral administration for adults: 250 mg four times daily
- Dosage may be doubled in severe infections
- Intramuscular Injection for adults: 250 mg four times daily
- Intravenous Injection for adults: 250 mg-1 g four times daily
- Dosage may be doubled in severe infections
Administration
- Oral doses should be administered 1 hour before meal
Interaction
- Concurrent use of Floxabac may result in increased level of Floxabac in blood for prolonged period
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients

Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution in patients with evidence of hepatic dysfunction
- Exercised caution in treating patients with an allergic diathesis
Use in Special Populations
- In severe renal failure, reduction in dose or an extension of dose interval should be considered

- Penicillinase-resistant penicillins
Reconstitution
- Has been used in other routes in conjunction with systemic therapy
- Has been administered by intraarticular injection and intrapleural injection
- Dissolved in 3 ml of sterile water and inhaled by nebuliser four times daily
