Indications

  • Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections
  • Treatment of respiratory tract infections
  • Treatment of osteomyelitis
  • Treatment of enteritis
  • Treatment of endocarditis
  • Prophylactic use during major surgical procedures

Pharmacology

  • Active against Gram-positive organisms
  • Inhibits the formation of cell wall of bacteria
  • Bactericidal antibiotic
  • Resistance to hydrolysis by penicillinase
  • Activity against penicillinase-producing staphylococci

Dosage

  • Oral administration for adults: 250 mg four times daily
  • Oral administration for children (2-10 years): Half of adult dose
  • Parenteral administration for adults: 250 mg four times daily
  • Parenteral administration for children (2-10 years): Half of adult dose

Administration

Oral doses should be administered 1 hour before meal

Interaction

Concurrent use may result in increased level of Flucloxacillin in blood for prolonged period

Contraindications

Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients
