Pharmacology
- Active against Gram-positive organisms
- Inhibition of cell wall formation
- Resistance to hydrolysis by penicillinase
- Bactericidal antibiotic
- Inhibition of peptidoglycan synthesis
- Steric hindrance induced by the acyl side chain
- Little activity against Gram-negative bacilli
Dosage
- 250 mg oral dose for adults
- Doubled dosage for severe infections
- Intramuscular injection for adults
- Intravenous injection for adults
- Oral doses to be administered 1 hour before meal
Administration
- Oral administration 1 hour before meal
Interaction
- Concurrent use may increase blood levels

- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients
