Indications
- Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections
- Treatment of respiratory tract infections
- Prophylactic agent for surgical procedures
- Treatment of osteomyelitis and endocarditis
- Treatment of urinary tract infection and meningitis
Pharmacology
- Active against Gram-positive organisms
- Inhibits the formation of bacterial cell wall
- Bactericidal antibiotic
- Useful against penicillinase-producing staphylococci
- Interferes with peptidoglycan synthesis
Dosage
- Oral administration for adults, children, and elderly
- Parenteral administration for adults and children
- Dosage adjustment for severe infections
Administration
- Oral doses should be administered 1 hour before meal
Interaction
- Concurrent use may result in increased level of Flu-K in blood for prolonged period
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients
