Pharmacology
- Active against Gram-positive organisms
- Penicillinase producing strains
- Little activity against Gram-negative bacilli
- Bactericidal antibiotic
- Inhibits the formation of bacterial cell wall
- Resistance to hydrolysis by penicillinase
- Gastric acid stability
- Interferes with peptidoglycan synthesis
Dosage
- Oral administration
- Parenteral administration
- Dosage adjustment for severe infections
- Adult dosage (250 mg four times daily)
- Children dosage (2-10 years, under 2 years)
- Intramuscular and intravenous injection dosage
Administration
- Oral administration 1 hour before meal
Interaction
- Concurrent use may increase blood levels of Flucloxacillin
