Indications

Pharmacology
Inhibits cell wall formation of Gram-positive bacteria. Bactericidal against penicillinase-producing staphylococci.
Dosage
- Oral Administration:
- Adult: 250 mg four times daily
- Children (2-10 years): Half of adult dose
- Children (Under 2 years): Quarter of adult dose
- Parenteral Administration:
- Adult or Elderly:
- Intramuscular Injection: 250 mg four times daily
- Intravenous Injection: 250 mg-1 g four times daily
- Children:
- 2-10 years: Half of adult dose
- Under 2 years: Quarter of adult dose
- Adult or Elderly:
Administration
Oral doses should be administered 1 hour before a meal.
Interaction
May result in increased levels of Syflu in the blood for a prolonged period when used concurrently with certain medications.
Contraindications
Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients.

Pregnancy & Lactation
Category B. Should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Caution should be exercised when administered to lactating mothers.
Precautions & Warnings
Use with caution in patients with evidence of hepatic dysfunction and allergic diathesis.
Use in Special Populations
In severe renal failure, consider a reduction in dose or extension of dose interval.

Can be administered via intraarticular injection, intrapleural injection, or inhaled by nebuliser.
