Indications

Pharmacology
Binds to penicillin binding proteins, broad spectrum bactericidal, active against gram-negative organisms, similar to other cephalosporins in activity against gram-positive bacteria

Interaction
Increased nephrotoxicity with concomitant administration of cephalosporins and aminoglycoside antibiotics
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to cefotaxime or cephalosporin group of antibiotics

Unknown safety in human pregnancy, excreted in the milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Prescribed with caution in individuals with a history of gastrointestinal disease
- Reduction of dosage in patients with renal insufficiency
Use in Special Populations
Dosage reduction in severe renal failure, adjustment in all other patients according to the course of infection and general condition
