Dosage

  • Oral dosage form
  • Healing of Erosive Esophagitis: 20 mg or 40 mg Once Daily for 4-8 Weeks
  • Symptomatic GERD: 20 mg Once Daily for 4 Weeks
  • IV Injection for Adult Patients: 20 mg or 40 mg once daily
  • Pediatric Patients IV Infusion Dosage based on body weight
  • Risk reduction of rebleeding of Gastric or Duodenal Ulcers following therapeutic endoscopy: Adult Patients: 80 mg

Administration

  • Tablet or capsule should be swallowed whole and taken one hour before a meal
  • Oral Suspension preparation and administration
  • IV Injection preparation and administration

Interaction

  • Metabolism by CYP2C19 and CYP3A4
  • No clinically relevant interactions with specific CYP enzymes
  • Potential interference with CYP2C19
  • Possible interference with absorption of certain drugs

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to any of the formulation

  • Specific instructions for patients with difficulty swallowing capsules
  • Use alongside antacids

Use in Special Populations

  • Safety and effectiveness in paediatric patients not established
  • No overall differences in safety and efficacy between elderly and younger individuals
  • No dosage adjustment recommended for mild to moderate hepatic insufficiency

Overdose Effects

  • Lethal dose observed in rats
  • Signs of acute toxicity
