Indications

Pharmacology
- Proton pump inhibitor
- Suppression of gastric acid secretion
- Specific inhibition of the H+/K+-ATPase
- Peak plasma levels at approximately 1.5 hours
- Extensively metabolized in the liver
- Systemic bioavailability is approximately 90%
- Absorption is decreased by 33-53% after food intake
Dosage
- 20 mg or 40 mg for healing of erosive esophagitis
- 20 mg for maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis
- 20 mg for symptomatic GERD
- Triple therapy for Helicobacter pylori eradication
- 20-80 mg for Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
- 20-40 mg for acid-related Dyspepsia
- 20 mg for duodenal ulcer, 20-40 mg for gastric ulcer
- IV injection or IV infusion for specific cases
Administration
- Tablet or capsule should be swallowed whole and taken one hour before a meal
- Oral suspension should be prepared and taken accordingly
- IV injection should be administered intravenously over a period of at least 3 minutes
Interaction
- Metabolized by CYP2C19 and CYP3A4
- Unlikely to inhibit certain CYP enzymes
- Potential interference with absorption of specific drugs
- Not showing clinically significant interactions with certain drugs
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to any of the formulation

- Antacids may be used while taking Esocon

- No overall differences in safety and efficacy between the elderly and younger individuals
- No dosage adjustment recommended for mild to moderate hepatic insufficiency
- Pharmacokinetics not expected to be altered in patients with renal impairment

- Expected to be extensively protein bound
