Indications

• Helps in replacement of fluid and electrolyte loss
• For acute diarrhea
• For vomiting
• For dehydration
• Applicable to patients of all age groups

Composition

• 500 ml preparation
• Sachet contains Sodium Chloride BP 1.30 gm
• Sachet contains Potassium Chloride BP 0.75 gm
• Sachet contains Trisodium Citrate Dihydrate BP 1.45 gm
• Sachet contains Glucose Anhydrous BP 6.75 gm

Pharmacology

• Oral rehydration salt preparation
• Composed of glucose, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, and sodium citrate
• Formulation to treat or prevent dehydration from diarrhea of any etiology
• Prevents acidosis due to electrolyte imbalance

Dosage

• Equivalent to patients' fluid requirement for maintenance and replenishment of losses
• Children less than 2 years: After each loose stool or vomiting 50-100 mL
• Children 2 to 10 years: After each loose stool or vomiting 100-200 mL
• Adult and children above 10 years: After each loose stool or vomiting 200-400 mL

Administration

• Disperse the full contents of the sachet in 500 mL of pure drinking water
• Do not mix with hot water or heat the prepared solution
• Discard the unused prepared oral saline after 12 hours

Interaction

• No known drug interactions

Precautions & Warnings

• Depressed renal function may need supplementation with parenteral fluids along with oral saline
• In severe continuing diarrhea or other critical fluid losses
