Indications

Composition
- Sodium Chloride BP 1.30 gm
- Potassium Chloride BP 0.75 gm
- Trisodium Citrate Dihydrate BP 1.45 gm
- Glucose Anhydrous BP 6.75 gm
- 500 ml preparation
Pharmacology
- Oral rehydration salt
- Treat or prevent dehydration from diarrhea
- Cholera treatment
- Prevents acidosis
- Glucose based oral rehydration salt
Dosage
- Equivalent to patients' fluid requirement
- Maintenance and replenishment of losses
- Children less than 2 years: 50-100 mL after each loose stool or vomiting
- Children 2 to 10 years: 100-200 mL after each loose stool or vomiting
- Adult and children above 10 years: 200-400 mL after each loose stool or vomiting
Administration
- Disperse full contents of the sachet in 500 mL of pure drinking water
- Do not mix with hot water
- Discard unused prepared oral saline after 12 hours

- Depressed renal function may need supplementation with parenteral fluids
