Indications

Pharmacology
- Inhibitor of gastric acid secretion
- Blocks hydrogen-potassium-adenosine triphosphatase (H+/K+ ATPase) enzyme system
- Onset of antisecretory effect within one hour
- Maximum effect occurring within two hours
- Inhibition of secretion lasting up to 72 hours
- Gradual return of secretory activity over 3 to 5 days upon discontinuation

Interaction

Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Omeprazole

- Photosensitivity, bullous eruption, and erythema multiforme
- Diarrhea and headache
- Gastrointestinal reactions such as constipation, nausea/vomiting, flatulence, and abdominal pain
- Neurological symptoms like paraesthesia, dizziness, and vertigo
- Mental confusion, agitation, and depression
- Musculoskeletal symptoms like arthritic and myalgic symptoms
- Reports of blurred vision, taste disturbance, and peripheral edema
- Hepatic reactions and increased liver enzymes
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Results from prospective epidemiological studies
- Use during pregnancy without observed adverse effects

Precautions & Warnings
