DosageForm

  • Oral capsule

Dosage

  • 20mg or 40mg once daily for 4-8 weeks for erosive esophagitis
  • 20mg for maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis
  • 20mg once daily for symptomatic GERD for 4 weeks
  • 40mg once daily for Helicobacter pylori eradication
  • 20-80mg daily for Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
  • 20-40mg once daily for 2-4 weeks for acid-related dyspepsia
  • 20mg once daily for duodenal ulcer and 20-40mg once daily for gastric ulcer
  • Differing dosages for pediatric patients based on body weight

Administration

  • Tablet or capsule should be swallowed whole and taken one hour before a meal
  • Oral suspension should be stirred well and taken with water; can be administered through a nasogastric or gastric tube
  • IV injection should be administered over a period of at least 3 minutes

Interaction

  • Metabolized by CYP2C19 and CYP3A4
  • Unlikely to inhibit CYPs 1A2, 2A6, 2C9, 2D6, 2E1, and 3A4
  • May interfere with the absorption of certain drugs
  • Potential interactions with clarithromycin and amoxicillin

  • Known hypersensitivity to any of the formulation
