Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
Helicobacter pylori-induced peptic ulcer

Inhibitor of gastric acid secretion
Blocker of hydrogen-potassium-adenosine triphosphatase (H+/K+ ATPase) enzyme system
Onset of anti-secretory effect within one hour
Maximum effect occurring within two hours
Inhibition of secretion lasts up to 72 hours

20 mg once daily for benign gastric and duodenal ulcer for 4 weeks in duodenal ulceration and 8 weeks in gastric ulceration
40 mg daily in severe or recurrent cases of gastric and duodenal ulcer
10-20 mg daily for prevention of relapse in duodenal ulcer
20 mg once daily for NSAID-associated duodenal or gastric ulcer for 4 weeks, continued for further 4 weeks if not fully healed
20 mg once daily for 4 weeks in Gastro-esophageal reflux disease, continued for further 4-8 weeks if not fully healed
10-20 mg daily for long-term management of acid reflux disease
10-20 mg once daily for 2-4 weeks for acid-related dyspepsia
40 mg on the preceding evening, then 40 mg 2-6 hours before surgery for prophylaxis of acid aspiration
20 mg twice daily for Helicobacter pylori eradication regimen in peptic ulcer disease
10-40 mg once daily for severe ulcerating reflux esophagitis based on body weight (Child>1 year)

Omeprazole IV injection for intravenous administration only
Omeprazole IV infusion as an intravenous infusion over a period of 20-30 minutes or more
Use only freshly prepared solution
IV injection given as a slow intravenous injection over a period of at least 2 to 5 minutes at a maximum rate of 4 ml/minute
Dissolve in saline for infusion or 5% Dextrose for infusion
Reconstituted solution should not be mixed or co-administered with any other drug

Decreased intragastric acidity may reduce the absorption of ketoconazole
Metabolized in the liver through cytochrome P450
May delay the elimination of diazepam, phenytoin, and warfarin
Monitoring of patients receiving warfarin or phenytoin is recommended
Concomitant treatment with Omeprazole 20mg daily did not change the blood concentration of phenytoin in patients on continuous treatment
Plasma concentrations of Omeprazole and clarithromycin are increased during concomitant administration
Absorption of Omeprazole is not affected by alcohol or food

Skin rash, urticaria, and pruritus
Photosensitivity, bullous eruption, and erythema multiforme
Diarrhoea, headache, constipation, nausea/vomiting, flatulence, and abdominal pain
Dizziness, light-headedness, and feeling faint
Somnolence, insomnia, and vertigo
Reversible mental confusion, agitation, depression, and hallucinations
Arthritic and myalgic symptoms
Blurred vision, taste disturbance, and peripheral edema
Increased sweating, gynaecomastia, leucopenia, thrombocytopenia, and agranulocytosis
Malaise, fever, bronchospasm, and encephalopathy
