Pharmacology

Semisynthetic third generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic
Bactericidal activity against a wide range of common pathogens
Inhibition of cell wall synthesis
Broad spectrum bactericidal activity

Dosage & Administration

Total daily dose for all infections: 600 mg
Dosage schedule for different types of infections
Powder for Oral Suspension: Total daily dose for all infections is 14 mg/kg body weight up to a maximum of 600 mg per day

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with known allergy to the cephalosporin class of antibiotics

No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed
Not detected in breast milk after administration of single 600 mg doses

Precautions & Warnings

Prescribed with caution in individuals with a history of colitis
Dosage reduction in patients with renal insufficiency
